Waterproof performance is a core indicator of lock durability and safety, directly determining the service life and user experience of locks in outdoor and humid environments. It is also a key threshold distinguishing ordinary locks from high-end durable ones. This is particularly evident in the application scenario of electrical cabinet locks – we have recently received a large number of customers who previously chose locks with preferential prices but insufficient waterproof performance to control costs, ignoring the waterproof protection of electrical cabinet locks. Eventually, rainwater seeped into the electrical cabinet through the lock cylinder on rainy days, causing short circuits and even fires, resulting in serious property losses and potential safety hazards. After switching to our waterproof locks, this core problem plaguing customers has been completely solved, effectively avoiding safety risks caused by lock water leakage and winning high recognition from customers. To solve the waterproof problems of locks and break through the common industry pain points such as unstable waterproof performance and limited applicable scenarios, we have set up a professional R&D team. After many experiments, repeated optimizations and iterations, we have deeply explored the core influencing factors of waterproof performance, and finally formed a mature and reliable waterproof design and production plan, providing customized waterproof protection for locks in different scenarios.

Through systematic research and a large number of experimental verifications, the waterproof performance of locks is not determined by a single link, but relies on precise control of the entire process. It mainly depends on two key dimensions, which complement each other and are indispensable, jointly building the waterproof protection system of locks.

First, the selection and adaptation of sealing rings, which is the first core line of defense for lock waterproofing and the key to solving the water leakage problem of electrical cabinet locks. As a sealing barrier at the junction of the lock body, lock cylinder and lock shell, the material, specification and adaptability of the sealing ring directly affect the waterproof effect, among which the control of the interference fit of the sealing ring is particularly important. After repeated experimental verification, we have accurately controlled the interference fit of the sealing ring to 20 threads (0.2mm) on one side. This precise parameter perfectly balances the waterproof performance and the smoothness of lock opening and closing – excessive interference fit will cause the lock to rotate stuck and fail to open and close normally; insufficient interference fit cannot achieve tight sealing, and rainwater can easily seep into the gap, especially failing to meet the strict waterproof requirements of scenarios such as electrical cabinets. At the same time, the material selection of the sealing ring is also crucial. We abandon the common ordinary sealing materials in the industry and prefer nitrile rubber with excellent wear resistance. This material not only has excellent weather resistance and aging resistance, but also can resist outdoor temperature differences, ultraviolet radiation and slight chemical corrosion. After extreme environment tests such as high and low temperature cycles, long-term immersion and ultraviolet irradiation, its sealing durability and adaptability perform excellently. It will not age or fall off after long-term use, ensuring the stability and durability of the sealing performance, and eliminating water leakage hidden dangers in scenarios such as electrical cabinets from the source.

Second, the control of the fit gap between the lock shell and the lock cylinder, which is the key structural guarantee for waterproof protection. Even if high-quality sealing rings are selected, if the fit gap between the lock shell and the lock cylinder is too large, rainwater will still seep into the lock body through the gap; if the gap is too small, it will affect the smooth opening and closing of the lock. Through precision CNC machining technology, we strictly control the fit tolerance between the lock shell and the lock cylinder, accurately control the gap within a reasonable range, and conduct special sealing treatment on the gap, adopting an integrated sealing structure design to fill the tiny gaps, realizing all-round waterproofing structurally, and completely solving the pain point of “poor sealing and easy water leakage” of traditional locks.

During the R&D process, we focused on high-frequency water leakage scenarios such as electrical cabinet locks, simulated extreme environments such as outdoor heavy rain, long-term humidity and water immersion for repeated tests and debugging. For the local water leakage, seal aging and other problems found in the tests, we carried out targeted design and improvement, optimized the weak links one by one, and realized full-dimensional and dead-angle-free waterproof protection of the lock. At present, one of our mass-produced stainless steel Compression latch has successfully passed professional third-party testing and obtained the IP66 waterproof rating certification. It can effectively resist strong water spray and big wave attacks, and can maintain stable waterproof performance even in harsh outdoor environments such as open air and heavy rain washing. It is not only suitable for various outdoor and humid scenarios, but also perfectly suitable for scenarios with high requirements for waterproofing and safety such as electrical cabinets. It has successfully solved the problems of short circuits and fires caused by lock water leakage for a large number of customers, demonstrating our technical strength and R&D accumulation in the field of lock waterproofing.
